Name : Sanisah Melati or better known as Mel. Owns Meliciouslymel and had recently registered her company Mel’s Empire with the help of her business friends(Cabaran Team Members). Currently focusing on stabilizing and enhancing her business as on professional business entity in the Entrepreneur world.
1)What kind of business do you have? What inspired you to become an Entrepreneur business owner?
Growing up in a food business environment where my family sells satay from the traditional ways of carry baskets and pots of satays around to selling at the backlane to a hawker centre, I am into F&B and currently focusing with my delicacies showcased in Meliciouslymel. Meliciouslymel was actually my nickname in the cyber world since 2001 and it was then turned into a business brand in late 2009 when I started to promote my delicacies online.
What inspired me into the entrepreneur world is the urge to do something worthwhile than just sitting in the comfort zone and let the time pass by without gaining any benefit out of it. I believes every moment has it’s value and especially when we has the passion, talent & skill, we ought to make full use of it to maximize the potential that we had within us which will definitely benefit us and the people out there.
2)Did you need to have a certain mindset to achieve success?
Yes, definitely I need to have a certain mindset to achieve success. There’s no gain without pain. Thus, I need to be positive, disciplined, hardworking and strong-willed over any negativity that may shower me by some people around us and not forgetting being humble too. I will always try to take any good examples & experiences as a milestone for further success and take any setback as a constructive jab that can boost and improvise my business.
3)Have you noticed certain advantages to being an entrepreneur business owner?
Definitely yes! There are the advantages to being an entrepreneur business owner. I will be able to discipline myself with the responsibilities of building my own business and at the same time, am able to monitor my family and children while I’m on my business. The best part is I will have more time with my family being and entrepreneur than being a worker.
4)Did you have a mentor to help you get started?
I do not have a mentor at the moment and currently looking up to my business friends who’ve helped, guided and gave advices to me as my mentor. And I am eyeing to network with people who’ve been in the F&B industries and slowly get them to be my mentor.
5)Approximately how much money did you invest before your business became profitable?
At least $1000 had been spent to start up with the equipments, product stocks and branding before my business became profitable. It’s all worthwhile and I’m keeping up with my business budget by taking up courses which are of beneficial for my progress.
6)What ways have you found to be most effective in marketing your product or service to get sales?
One of the best ways is through the word of mouth, followed by consistent product marketing online on platforms such as Facebook especially, and others like Multiply and Blogspot. There may be many free online methods to market, but most importantly our response to potential customers who’ve started to make queries. Our service to potential and confirmed customers is another important factor too in order to get sales and keep it coming back again to us. Promotion is another way but it all depends on each business’s costing budget. My most effective ways is through Facebook fanpage and we are looking forward to move to the global standard that is to centralize all customers to our future official website which is currently under progress. 7)What tips can you give others who want to embrace their dream but, don’t have the confidence or feel they don’t have what it takes to succeed?
First of all you must agree that there’s no gain by just sitting in your comfort zone. So when you realized that you are dreaming of something, believe that you can achieve it if you take the necessary action. Thus, to materialize that dream, set your target to that dream and start to put out your feet and keep on walking towards your goal. In order to gain the confidence of going through that uncertain or probably rocky path towards your dream, you will have to mingle and network with positive people. Remember, who your friends are can determine what your destiny will be. A bad friend can end you up in the lock-up and a great friend will help you succeed in your dream path towards your target destiny. Build the confidence along the way and stay focus on that target you’ve set. With discipline, determination and hard work, you will get to where you want to be. And also like Abg Abu, the Mekanik $ mentioned, ‘Always Believe in Urself’. Believe you can do it, and you will be able to do it.
8)What’s next for you?
What’s next for me is the progress and definitely the growth of my business. After 2 years in the online presence, I am happy that I am in the right track and am giving the best to my customers, patrons and potential customers as a registered business entity. I am currently working on my official website and is looking forward to provide a much conducive platform and the best services for all my customers. There are more plans in lined other than the website project. So stay tuned and Meliciouslymel promises to give the best possible.
