HAMPIR sebulan sudah berlalu tahun 2009 ini. Pelbagai acara serta berita yang kita dengar selama sebulan ini.

Antaranya Encik Barack Obama diangkat secara rasmi sebagai Presiden baru Amerika Syarikat; Belanjawan 2009 Singapura dibentangkan, Tahun Baru Cina dan pelbagai berita lain lagi.

Apa yang menarik perhatian Abang Abu ialah berita mengenai perniagaan hangat yang diperbualkan oleh semua.

Dalam keadaan ekonomi dunia yang sedang dilanda gawat, pihak pemerintah berusaha untuk memberikan nafas baru dalam merancakkan suasana ekonomi.

Pelbagai inisiatif baru diperkenalkan; antara yang menarik ialah usia bagi seseorang untuk mendaftarkan perniagaan telah diturunkan daripada 21 kepada 18 tahun.

Banyak juga pinjaman disediakan untuk tujuan perniagaan.

Satu lagi berita yang baik untuk para belia ialah pertubuhan Rangkaian Perniagaan Belia (YBI) telah menyediakan pinjaman untuk para belia yang mempunyai idea perniagaan yang baik. Ia mendapat kerjasama Masjid Muhammad Salleh.

Abang Abu amat berharap agar belia-belia Melayu/Islam merebut peluang tersebut untuk memulakan perniagaan.

Pada masa yang sama, mungkin ibu bapa belia-belia ini berasa khuatir dengan keadaan ekonomi dunia yang muram dan soalan utama mereka ialah sama ada baik ataupun tidak untuk anak-anak mereka memulakan perniagaan.

Abang Abu ingin memberikan lima sebab mengapa musim kegawatan ekonomi adalah waktu yang terbaik untuk belia memulakan bisnes.

1. Keadaan ekonomi yang muram akan menjadikan usahawan muda lebih berhati-hati dalam berbelanja.

Memulakan perniagaan tanpa modal yang besar akan mengajar usahawan ini supaya lebih berjimat.

Modal yang kurang menjadikan usahawan muda lebih kreatif serta memberikan tumpuan pada aliran wang tunai serta bajet.

2. Keadaan ekonomi juga akan memberikan peluang kepada usahawan muda dan baru untuk meneliti kembali idea-idea mereka.

a) Adakah idea mereka mempunyai potensi jangka masa panjang?

b) Dalam keadaan gawat, adakah produk mereka masih diperlukan?

c) Bagaimana dengan keperluan kewangan mereka dalam masa permulaan?

3. Keadaan ekonomi gawat akan menjadikan usahawan muda lebih komited.

Pekerja juga akan menunjukkan komitmen yang tinggi kerana mereka juga khuatir akan diberhentikan kerja.

Untuk menjayakan produk atau idea bisnes, usahawan muda perlu mendapatkan pasukan yang percaya akan visi dan misinya.

4. Keadaan ekonomi sebegini juga menjadikan sesuatu perniagaan mendapat perhatian ramai serta mungkin tiada tandingan.

Ini kerana ramai usahawan baru tidak berani memulakan perniagaan pada saat seperti ini, maka ini harus dilihat sebagai peluang memulakan perniagaan.

5. Keadaan ekonomi seperti ini akan menjadikan seseorang usahawan muda dan baru lebih berani, menjadikan mereka orang yang boleh membuat keputusan bijak dan tidak mengaku kalah.

Ini adalah sifat seorang usahawan yang berjaya. Dan pada saat seperti inilah seseorang usahawan itu akan membina kewibawaannya.

Abang Abu yakin sebab-sebab yang Abang Abu bincangkan ini akan menjadi galakan kepada lebih banyak lagi belia untuk mula berbisnes.

Badan-badan belia Melayu juga perlu menganjurkan kem serta bengkel keusahawan agar belia-belia kita dapat pelajaran berguna sebelum mereka memulakan perniagaan secara betul dan bijak.

Salam to all. And a Happy Lunar New Year to all my chinese friends,

AbangAbu wanna update things that happen this week .

A. AbangAbu conduct the Program Bijak Belanja at the Wisma Mendaki. AbangAbu want all other malay organization to take the opportunity to have this program in their own place and at their place. The person that you can contact will be Mdm Yatie from Mendaki Sense.You can call me at 91463164 for any information.

This is a 3 hour program about money management and it will surely help people to understand finance better.

B. AbangAbu conduct a entrepreneurial Camp for the NUS Malay Language Society at Masjid Sultan. It was a very fun and interactive workshop that all the participant enjoyed. The participants are from Jamiyah Business School, and Ain Society. They will running a bazaaar on the 1st Feb 2009 at Sultan Mosque  area. There will be celebrity like Fiza O and Shah Isakandar from Warna. The GOH for theis event will be Dr Fateemah Latif. Do come and support this young people who aspire to become successful entrepreneurs in future.

C. AbangAbu had a talk at the Woodlands regional Library on teh the topic of Kompas Wang. Again it was a fun filled and educational workshop. I will doing regular talks there as part of my social contributions in my own way. So do approach the library for more details.

D. AbangAbu spend my sunday at JB Tropical Inn conducting a financial Workshop a about 61 participants JOHOR , sINGAPORE AND SEREMBAN. It was a workshop that involve of playing the cash flow game. It was a very lively workshop as theparticipants were involved fully and participated to the max. And guess what the workshop was in tamil….. new expirience.

E. AbangAbu will be at Ar Rabitha Mosque which is near to the Red Hill MRT station for 2 days , on monday and tuesday conducting few mini workshops in conjuction with the bazaar makanan which been organized by the mosque during these chinese new year. Do come if you are free as all the proceed will be use for the upgrading of the mosque third story to be use as a madrasah for the children.

Good News for Teens.

Hi teens out there, now is the time for you to get started. The new rulling of starting business at the age 18 will be a good move to make our young more enterprising.

This move will give an opportunity for teens to get involve in business at a very young age. I am very sure and confident that many young people from our community will take the first step.

Nothing can beat this in todays business world. One have to be innovative in order to succeed in business today. think of how you can be more innovative in selling your services and products? Think how you can be more innovative in giving great customer service? And always think on how you can be innovative in every aspect of your business.

R: Resourcesful

Being resourcesful will help the business survive any situation, being resourceful meaning that in all aspect . Money, man power, products, technology, contacts. In orader to build our resources you must do a lot of networking, meeting people and always stay in touch with your customers. This will give you all the resources that you might need in time of emergencies. Build your resources.

E: Enterprising

This is the time for all entrepreneurs to be enterprising. You need to try venture out, you need to do more marketing, you need to try out new services and product in time of recession. Many enterprising entreprenuers make it happen during these times. So be enterprising to do new things. Try out new methods.

Perkara Perkara yang boleh diambil ketika perniagaan lembab.

Apa khabar semua? Semoga semua usahawan sudah pun bersedia berhadapan dengan kelembapan ekonomi yang melanda seluruh dunia. Keadaan ini akan mengakibatkan para pelanggan akan mengurangkan perbelanjaan mereka dan ini akan menjadikan perniagaan lembab.

AbangAbu ingin berkongsi pendapat serta berbincang akan beberapa langkah yang boleh diambil oleh para usahawan dalam mengharungi masa sukar ini. Usahawan yang berjaya dan bijak sudah pasti akan mengambil tindakan yang boleh membantu meningkatkan perniagaan mereka. Untuk itu AbangAbu akan berkongsi sama perkara perkara yang boleh anda lakukan dalam masa perniagaan yang lembab di waktu ini.

1. Hantarkan email pada pelanggan tetap anda dengan memberikan mereka peluang untuk mengetahui promosi , serta tip tip yang berguna kepada mereka dalam mengunakan produk atau servis anda. Ini akan menjadikan pelanggan anda merasa diri mereka dihargai. Nama perniagaan anda juga akan sentiasa diingati.

2. Sediakan peraduan peraduan yang boleh disertai oleh semua dengan memberikan hadiah hadiah. Ini akan menarik bukan sahaja pelanggan tetap anda sebaliknya bakal pelanggan anda juga. Ini akan menjadikan perniagaan anda menjadi perbualan orang ramai yang akan memberikan publisiti pada perniagaan anda.

3. Menjadikan premis perniagaan anda lebih menarik dengan membersihkan atau mengubah posisi tempat berkerja misalanya. Semak semula fail fail lama , serta aturkan semula semua didalam permis perniagaan anda agar anda boleh mendapatkan sesuatu yang dicari dalam masa yang singkat.

4. Ambil kesempatan musim cuti juga perayaan dengan menghantarkan kad ucapan yang boleh disertakan dengan voucher diskaun produk atau servis anda.Anda juga boleh sertakan voucher diskaun yang boleh diberikan kepada sahabat handai serta kaum keluarga mereka.

5. Semak akaun akaun perniagaan anda, kemas kini akan segala akaun perniagaan.AbangAbu sendiri selalu tidak dapat melakukan perkara ini dimasa waktu yang sibuk dan dalam masa yang kurang sibuk ini adalah masa yang sesuai untuk anda mengemas kini segala akaun akaun perniagaan anda.

6. Ini juga masa yang paling sesuai untuk anda melihat kembali matlamat matlamat yang telah anda lakarkan sebelum ini. Anda juga boleh mengubah matlamat anda agar ia bersesuaian dengan pelan anda. Lakarkan pelan pemasaran yang baru untuk keadaan ekonomi yang lembab.

7. Kembali ke sekolah.Apa yang AbangAbu maksudkan adalah baik sekali ketika keadaan pernigaan yang lembab ini anda mengambil krusus krusus yang boleh memberikan anda ilmu ilmu yang berguna untuk perniagaan anda. Banyak sekali krusus serta seminar seminar yang bermutu dianjurkan oleh badan badan seperti Dewan Perniagaan , Spring dan sebagainya.

8. Anda juga boleh mendapatkan pemeriksaan kesihatan diri anda sendir pada masa seperti ini. Ramai usahawan yang sentiasa sibuk lupa untuk menjaga kesihatan yang boleh membahayakan diri . Ini adalah kesempatan terbaik untuk mengenali serta mengetahui keadaan keseluruhan kesihatan anda.

9. Luangkan masa dengan keluarga dan rakan rakan. Ini juga amat penting untuk usahawan agar pihak keluarga memahami akan keadaan perniagaan anda. AbangAbu sendiri  tidak dapat meluangkan masa dengan keluarga dalam masa sibuk. Ini akan mengakibatkan pihak keluarga tidak memahami keadaan anda serta perniagaan anda. Dalam masa perniagaan yang lembab adalah masa yang sesuai untuk anda meluangkan masa yang lebih bersama keluarga serta memberitahu akan keadaan perniagaan anda. Dengan memahami keadaan pernigaan anda, pihak keluarga akan memberikan sokongan terhadap anda.

10. Minda yang positif amat penting pada saat seperti ini. Baca buku buku yang boleh memberikan semangat , dengar audio audio yang boleh memberikan anda sentiasa berada dalam keadaan yang positif. Bertukar tukar pendapat dengan rakan rakan anda juga akan memberikan anda semangat untuk terus melalukan apa yang perlu dalam mengharungi kelembapan perniagaan .

Hi everyone, How have been the year going so far. For AbangAbu its been very smooth and nice. And I am confident that even with the current economic condition we still can be at the peak of our business if we know how.

It is very important for entrepreneurs to be at their peak in order to overcome the current economic tsunami. AbangAbu want to discuss and share some thought that i believe will help entrepreneurs out there to stay at their peak.

so here we go….

P= Passion– This is the most important element that one must have during the low time. With passion all those hard time will never be seen as something big. Many successful business survive during hard time because of the passion that they have toward what they are doing. Passion drive people to move far ahead no matter what happens.

E= Experience– This is a critical component that every entrepreneur must get . During these period of economic uncertainties experience play vital role in making us stay at the peak. With experience that we get from this condition will make us more wise and help entrepreneurs make better decisions. AbangAbu also love all of entrepreneurs out there read past history of economic downturn so that they can be more aware of what can happen and what kind of preparation they should do. So get experience from current situation.

A- Attitude– Your attitude is the one will make you succeed or not in what you are doing. Positive attitude will be critical during this time. Maintain positive attitude no matter what happens. Be positive and more positive things will happen. Look at your attitude. it is important to stay in your peak.

K-Knowledge–  To be at our peak one must always obtain knowledge in what ever they are into. For entreprenuers knowledge in business like marketing, stratergies, accounting.Keep getting knowledge and use the knowledge in your business.

With those PEAK AbangAbu believe every entreprenuer can be at their peak even during recession time. So make sure you have the PEAK and improve on your PEAK to be at the peak.

How to Create Complementary Products and Services

Perhaps the greatest line in marketing is this: “Do you want to have fries with that…?” This is the art of upselling, and today I will share with you the idea of creating complementary goods and services.

Complementary products and services are things that are related to your primary product which your customers might find useful in addition to. For example, if you sell kuih, complementary products would be tissue, plastic bags, kuih cookbook, so on.

How do you go about thinking of complementary products? Here are three questions you need to ask:

  1. What are the customers doing before they consume my product
  2. What are the customers doing as they are consuming my product
  3. What are the customers doing after they consume my product

It’s that simple. So for example, if I’m selling kuih online using a blog, using the above framework, here is the result (in order):

  1. Customers are looking for wedding caterers most likely. Maybe venue people. Maybe I should set up a complementary venue service in addition to my kuih product.
  2. Customers while surfing in the site might get hungry. Maybe I can offer free trial.
  3. Customers after ordering my product might feel happy. Maybe I can send them a card.

Creating complementary products increases your variety of products and value that you are able to give to your customers. They sometimes give reminders to customers who, at the point of purchase, might not have thought of buying that extra service or product. This is win-win, as you create a solution for your customers before they realise that the problem arises, and of course for you, it means more halal earnings.

Business is like a game. It means that people want to win. So in business the winning mentality is a must. It is about never giving up, doing all out , and many other important characteristic.

In todays economy , every business owner and business person must have something that will make your business WIN.

In order to WIN in your business , you must focus on this thing call WIN.

Here it is….. W.I.N = Whats Important Now?

This is the question that you must ask your self. With this question you can remain focus in what you are doing in order to achieve success.

Every time you want to do something or doing something ask this question WIN? That will give you more clarity in doing waht is important and will save you much energy and time. AbangAbu believe with this question that i been asking lately to myself make me improved in many task that AbangAbu involved.

Best Promotions Tip for a Food Business?

In last week’s article, we touched on the number 1 secret in promotions . Today we’ll discuss the food business in greater detail. If you own a stall, make business selling Burger Ramli at the pasar malam, or are thinking of how to increase the next sales during your next Ramadan bazaar, this article is especially for you.

So you’re going to set up you stall. Time to print the posters? Wait! Here’s the truth some marketeers won’t tell you:

  • Marketing is not just visual marketing (posters, flyers, websites, ads, brochures…)
  • The more power marketing, according to the latest research, is sensory marketing. 
Sensory marketing??? Huh? That’s marketing of the senses of the other senses, especially sound and smell. Some of the outrageous things happening out there already:
  • A particular potato chips giant spends tons of money just to make sure that when you open that can, that opening sound your hear is just the right "fresh" segar sound.
  • A particular fast food chain spends alot to ensure that when you put that straw into the drink, your straw garises or makes that friction sound with the side of that plastic. Welcome the sound of contentment.
  • Fast food chains too spend thousands developing "cheeseburger perfumes", "breakfast perfumes" and etc. So come breakfast? That perfume dispenser releases that nice breakfast meal you just love to order (even though it’s the most expensive too).
Okay, so they do that. I’m just a kuih seller you say? Don’t worry, here’s my tips for you:
  1. Invest in a few powerful fans. You heard me. Fans. Especially those that can blow in a concentrated form. Put these where the food smells best (often that barbeque smell if at the pit, or the smell of fresh bread perhaps), and blow them towards the stream of incoming customer traffic.
  2. Placement is key. If possible, locate your stall near the entrances, exits or junctions of traffic. It is no incident that in some shopping centres, the first thing that greets you is the smell of fresh bread at the entrance. These shopping centre managers are aware that the smell of bread can actually induce customers to shop for other things later with a more pleasant feel. No kidding.
  3. Invest in vanilla smelling scents. It is no accident that of all flavours, coke chose vanilla as its latest variant taste.

So the best marketing tip for the food business in summary?

Get smelling.
